Was looking for a new place to try and came across AAA restuarant. They use to have the same items as Lido, however they have changed to be just a cart noodle 車仔麵 place. When I went on a Sunday, they open at 11:30 and there was already a line up waiting for them to open.

The prices of the cart noodle is really reasonable. 2 toppings $6, 3 toppings $7, 4 toppings $8. All with the option to add either 2 crispy chicken wings or steamed ginger milk dessert for only $1 more. Really good deal. They are generous with the amount of toppings. Also comes with lots of veggies. Wide range of noodles and toppings to choose from. The set doesn't come with any drink. Drinks are around $3.

Only complaint I have is that they serve in plastic takeout bowls which is unsustainable and just not good at all. Maybe it's just a temporary thing but I do hope they get regular bowls. The drinks are also served in takeout plastic cups.

Note that this is a Cantonese speaking restuarant so if you dont know chinese, you may be at a disadvantage. Good place for cheap yummy noodles, but I don't like the waste of plastic.

One of the many cart noodle restaurants you can find around the Richmond area. While exploring the area, the name AAA caught my attention as I hoped for an AAA experience.

Food: A super common concept brought over from Hong Kong: cart noodles (and rice). Choose your noodles, then add toppings to it (the more toppings you want, the greater the charge). They also had a special where you can get 2 chicken wings for $1.5 with your order!

Cart Noodles -  For my choices: yellow noodles (油麵), chicken steak, and housemade dace balls. It was served in a black plastic container (presumably so they don't have to do dishes?) and to streamline the takeout orders? Would be better to see porcelain or some other material used to avoid plastic waste. As for the noodles themselves, I honestly couldn't think of anything amazing to say about them. The broth was quite watered down. The housemade dace balls lacked texture; perhaps too much flour/filler?

Chicken wings - These were tasty! They had a slightly sweet and salty taste to them and were freshly fried! The size of the wings were decent considering you get two for $1.5! Definitely wouldn't mind if they just specialized in chicken wings instead of noodles/rice!

Service: Typical HK cafe/restaurant service. Waitstaff took our orders, gave us our food. Nothing out of the ordinary to comment on.

Interior: About 4-5 booth seats and plenty of table seats. Very bright and open area. The restaurant itself isn't particularly huge. One thing to note is that the entrance faces the road which is away from the parking lot of the plaza.

Why did you change AAA?!?! Your HK breakfasts, congee, and buttered pineapples buns were such a good thing! Did you get peer pressured and had to join the already plentiful HK Cart Noodle Trend?

Sadly, upon entering the unchanged AAA Restaurant, we were surprised with an entirely new menu. Gone are the days of the ild AAA menu, it is now completely dedicated to Build your Own Noodle Bowl.

Pick your noodle, broth, and items. The typical assortment but one highlight is the Homemade Items - Fish Balls, Squid Balls, Dumplings, Fried Fish Cakes and more. I tried the dumplings and they did remind me of homemade dumplings with soft skin and a decent amount of flavourful meat stuffing.

The noodles were as expected. The broth was pretty plain and simple. In the end, just a straight-forward bowl of noodle soup. I guess for the price ($6.50 for 2 toppings) if you're looking for a quick, lighter, simple meal this will do the trick. Add in 2 Chicken Wings for $1 for some more protein and flavour.

The HK Milk Tea was familiar, rich and creamy. Everything was served in plastic bowls and disposable cups. Seems pretty wasteful - I guess they decided to ditch the dishwasher along with the menu too.

Overall, pretty disappointed they changed their menu. They should change their name to reflect this complete overhaul.

You can choose different noodle type, and different toppings. I got the 2-topping noodle and add-on the chicken wings. The chicken wings were very crispy and juicy, but I wish it was saltier. The noodle was decent but came in a black plastic bowl.
Overall, the food was ok but the price was great. Everything came to a total of ~$8.

I used to LOVE this restaurant before they changed it to serving only Hong Kong cart noodles, in addition to other HK snacks/street food. Therefore, DON'T come here expecting you will be getting your pineapple buns!!! The restaurant now serves the famous cart noodles where you'd pick your own toppings.

My friends and I each got a bowl of noodles and added $1 for 2 fried chicken wings. I highly recommend doing this because you would not be full at all from the soup noodles. I personally have never liked the HK cart noodles. They are not the noodles that you'd get from places like Bubble Waffle or Deer Garden. The broth in these noodles is essentially bland. We had to select the option to add sauce to the soup. Anyway, as I don't like the cart noodles myself, I'm not a fair judge of this style of food.

In conclusion, I was really disappointed and felt "cheated" (I know I'm being irrational) by the restaurant. In my (my biased) opinion, if a restaurant wants to do a complete turn from the previous "style", shouldn't they change the restaurant name at least?
